The 2027 exam calendar for Years 3 to 7
One page with every date, in order, marked as confirmed or expected. It is updated as the organisers publish.
Facts checked on 14 October 2026 against the official sites listed at the foot of the page.
Term 1: NAPLAN
- 10 to 22 March 2027, confirmed: NAPLAN for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9, at school. Writing on day one.
- Results: through the school, expected from the start of Term 3; the 2027 date is not yet published.
Term 2: entries
- Early July, expected: the school's paper entries for the AMC close (3 July in 2026); online entries close at the end of July.
- Term 2, expected: ICAS entries open and the school sends home its Parent Payment System code.
- Year 4 families: the Melbourne Grammar Year 7 entry test is sat in Year 4, in April or May, through the school's own process.
Term 3: competitions
- 3 to 5 August 2027, confirmed: the AMC. Middle Primary for Years 3 and 4, Upper Primary for Years 5 and 6, Junior for Year 7.
- August, expected: ICAS, one subject a week. In 2026 the order was Digital Technologies and Writing, then English, then Science and Spelling Bee, then Mathematics in the last week.
Planning the year
The three tests fall in two clusters, March and August, four months apart. A sensible year gives Term 4 and the start of Term 1 to NAPLAN skills, Term 2 to the ICAS and AMC hard end, and the first weeks of Term 3 to full papers on the clock. The free diagnostic shows which skills to start with; each program page shows how the weekly practice runs up to its test.
Further ahead
- NAPLAN 2028: 15 to 27 March. NAPLAN 2029: 14 to 26 March.
- The AMT and ICAS Assessments publish each year's dates in the preceding months; this page is updated when they do.
